In May 2018, the Consortium of Universities for Evaluation Education (CUEE) hosted an inaugural student panel at the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) annual conference in Calgary Alberta. Eight students were selected from among CUEE affiliated universities to make brief presentations explaining the breadth and importance of their projects to a non-specialist audience. The winner of this competition was awarded a certificate and $1,000 prize.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 “My Project in 180 Seconds” competition at the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) annual conference has been cancelled.

Inventory of Canadian Evaluation Education

University education in evaluation is an important support for professionalization of the field in Canada. Periodic inventories of American graduate courses and programs have been undertaken since the 1980s. The current study sought to develop a Canada-wide inventory of graduate courses and programs with emphasis on program evaluation offered by Canadian universities.

Informal lists of Canadian university evaluation courses and intensive Internet searches of university websites were used to construct an initial sampling frame. University departments were requested to validate and provide input into the lists of graduate evaluation courses.

The current inventory represents a snapshot of graduate evaluation courses across Canada in 2018. This list is bound to change over time, as universities update and revise their course offerings and add new courses.
